IX - A discussion with P. B.

 

You show yourself to seeing dreamers,
divine face.
Knowing eyes fall short,
words cannot name you.
Unspeakable suns conceal and carry you
from primeval days into the never-changing light.'

As I wrote these words about ten years ago, I meant the world-creator, God. But God, the Infinite Love, did not create the body and soul world. Not yet was I able to recognize God at that time. ‘Today I suspect that, before me, other spirits already created the cosmos (not God, but one or several of Its children). Like many others I created and contributed to the forms of life that fill the cosmos today' (fourth letter).

One of God's children, one like us, a divine spirit like us created the cosmos. Since times immemorial we call this divine spirit, a child of the Infinite Love like us, the World Spirit. This is not his inner name, about which I will speak in a later letter. This inner name has been known since long ago, from seemingly quite different connections. Through this name, endless blessing has flown upon Earth and into the cosmos already.

‘The spirit of God hovered over the waters' (biblical Creation Narrative). This wonderful parable shows the World Spirit's will, hovering over - or better: hovering in - his spiritual soul that had turned into the cosmic ether sea, only ‘loosely' connected to her, arranging her into a cosmos. Like all other spirits, his spiritual soul was full of infinite, still undeveloped possibilities. These endless possibilities, still unclear and undecided, flowing through his embodied spiritual soul, through the cosmic ether sea, were called ‘Chaos' by the seers. ‘God created the world out of nothing' just means that they could not yet recognize the World Creator's, the World Spirit's spiritual soul , being embodied as cosmic ether. Therefore, to them the world originated from ‘nothingness', from the imperceptible.

The World Spirit's will chose and arranged this sea of infinite possibilities, this ‘chaos' into an organized cosmos, in this universal cosmic ether sea he created ‘condensations', centers of further development and arranged them into live associations: the ether bodies of stars and star systems. And his will shall be leading the further development. As natural laws he stamped it into his embodied spiritual soul. Nobody can escape these laws, no one can knock them over. Still, they are not a pressing obligation but only a restriction. The real natural laws (not the so-called biological laws of organic life, erroneously held for natural laws) are all-comprisingly wide. Within its framework, countless possibilities of individual development are open.'

‘Yes. But what's the purpose of all this?'

‘One of the life possibilities as an independent divine spirit is the existence as a unique personality , delimited and different from all other beings. We have been completely free to choose this life possibility. If we want it, God wants it. We also were entirely at liberty to choose into which uniqueness and to which level of consciousness we wanted to develop our spiritual soul. (Our will is capable of changing, ‘developing' only his spiritual soul, which bears the divine inheritance of these endless potentialities or abilities. Our will always remains divine, one with God's will, divine primordial light - if he doesn't turn against God and by doing so gives itself up).

However, within the spiritual world delimitation from others, a separate development is not possible. All angels live ‘out of God', they are infinitely perfect. But a to uniqueness developing personality is imperfect, as it just lives onto a developmental goal . Only an accomplished unique personality is divinely perfect again and lives completely out of God - different from God, because it is restricted and nevertheless in God, because it is only one embodied ability from God's infinite fullness.

If, therefore, the spiritual soul should develop and by that temporarily become imperfect, if the spirit wants to reach an individual self-consciousness, then, for the time of her development, the spiritual soul must separate from the divine spiritual world and from God. She therefore must also part with her divine will, she must give up the twofoldness with him, since the individual divine will always remains one with God Itself after all. The spirit must give up his consciousness of God the ‘Father' and develop an individual divine consciousness. Thus at the beginning of his development the spirit is without consciousness ( in matter); sleeping, seemingly totally unfree, ‘instinctively' he finds his way, sleeping, dreaming and ever brighter dreaming, he travels through plants, through animal and human forms that correspond to his respective development and level of awareness, to his ability to experience the world and to differentiate himself from others, until in the fully-aware human being he can awaken to a full individual self-awareness and to the understanding of his origin, his being a child of God.'

‘But why does the spirit embody, and what does in fact ‘body', ‘matter' mean?'

‘Like all other otherworldly truths, I can represent the motives for embodiment only as parables, as pictures. The abilities of the pure spiritual soul are a closed and complete whole in itself. Separately they are not ‘tangible', ‘comprehensible'. If they should be separated, selected and developed, then the will must make them tangible, malleable, individually impressionable, he must consolidate, condense them.

The World Spirit was one of the spirits who wanted to become a unique personality, and he wanted to take on himself a special serving task. He was an archangel of the light way. Among the countless possibilities that from God are inherent in each spiritual soul, he chose to be able to consolidate, embody his spiritual soul. No other spirit who wants to be unique can choose the same possibility. But they can link up their spiritual soul with his and thereby gain solidity, condensing and hold for their development. Thus, all others need his help. Also the World Spirit can say: ‘Without me, nobody becomes a unique, self-conscious personality'. With his embodied, consolidated spiritual soul he serves all others, who wants to become unique, as a developmental basis and fighting area. As embodied, consolidated beings, they are no longer directly connected to the divine spiritual world and God himself, the embodied spiritual souls are only ‘loosely' connected to God and their own divine will. They can measure their powers up to each other, delimit themselves from each other, get to know themselves by that and become unique. (‘A character - a unique personality - builds up in the stream of the world'). That the World Spirit gave his own soul as a developmental basis for all others is the first sacrifice in spiritual history. In its inconceivable magnanimity it corresponds to the Infinite Love, that gave everything It possessed Itself to all of Its children and gave it with them into the independent existence'.

‘This is all very difficult to comprehend'.

‘All this is not to be comprehended , to be penetrated and captured intellectually at all. If that were possible, I could and would have to give intellectual evidence of it, scientific or logical, as well. But it can ‘become obvious' to you, you can feel it as the truth even if you don't yet see completely through it. Nowhere have I given definitions and proof but only comparisons and parables for the otherworldly truths, since in no other way the earthly intellect can be made familiar with them'.

‘On this we agree. But now I repeat my question: What does ‘matter' and ‘material body' mean, what do ‘ether body', ‘astral body' - also used by others and since long conceived - and your expression ‘spiritual shape' mean?'

‘I will answer your questions one by one, as far as I can do now already without later having to correct essential things, and as far as it doesn't cross the limits I set myself for this work.

Matter is compressed cosmic ether of the original form, into which the World Spirit himself condensed the countless abilities of his spiritual soul into separate structures. These structures I see as light balls, consisting of a sunlike shining kernel (image of the divine will) and a silvery glimmering, hazy shell (image of the World Spirit's divine spiritual soul). The sight of these structures exactly resembles the radiating body of the image of awareness of every single spirit, as long as it is still embodied in matter and in the lowest plant and animal forms (will and spiritual soul still are clearly separated as kernel and shell. Later on, this separation balances, until in the spirit's field of the human being will and spiritual soul shine uniformly, from more or less brightly to sun like.

These ether structures of the original form could be called ‘primal atoms'. (The scientifically comprehensible atom already is a further development and compression of this primal atom). Just like the spirits that embodied for the first time, I also can bring such primal atoms closer to each other, compress them and, by doing so, create matter from cosmic ether again.

In my view, these ether structures seem to stand still. They just shine. Nevertheless, they must be spinning around very fast. When I press two such structures together, then, at the contact point, violently revolving and intertwining movements, ‘swirls' of the hazy shells come on. If I don't increase the pressure, then these swirls calm down and a stiff connection arises from it. (In their inside, the structures keep on vibrating anyway. But I cannot perceive this). If I further increase the pressure, then all of a sudden, without transition, both structures flare up as in an explosion, and from the two former ones one new structure of the same size is created, which for some moments as a whole shines brightly as a sun and then shows a golden kernel and a silvery glimmering hazy shell again, which seems to be denser than the former, though. If I keep uniting ‘primal atoms' with this structure, it gradually becomes bigger.

In this way, ‘matter' is constructed from cosmic ether through the unconscious will, by the ‘wishing power' of the embodying spirit. They want to create a body for themselves , a solid cover and ‘housing' of great resisting power and nevertheless impressionable, in which the environmental influences can be held, processed, ‘assimilated', repelled or assumed. Through the ‘transcendental' bodies (ether body etc., discussed later on), these processes in the solid ‘cover' influence the spiritual soul and finally change her to uniqueness by the selecting and arranging influence of her leading will, who knows the developmental goal - unaware, semi-aware and finally fully aware.

Thus the individual embodied spirits are not matter or body (physical body, ether body etc.) themselves. They just inhabit them, live in them. What is called organic and soul ‘life', is the effect ( building, choosing and arranging) of the individual spirit in matter, in the higher life forms and in the transcendent bodies.

Matter becomes visible and tangible through the resistance she offers - owing to the will of the spirit that wants to build her up - against modification and penetration. From the more or less ‘fixed' connection between the several ether corpuscles, which on their turn have different ‘densities' themselves, matter gets a certain duration and character, in accordance with the spirits that once built it as their organ for experiencing the world and lived in it.

Today, through the activities of the embodied spirits most of the matter-forming cosmic ether - better: the primal cosmic ether which can be condensed to matter - has been converted into higher ether forms, which correspond to a lighter level of awareness of the initially sleeping World Soul. These higher ether forms do not show a separate kernel sun (will) and hazy shell (spiritual soul). They shine evenly, brighter on the whole. Among these developed ether forms, for the present and quite roughly I distinguish three steps:

The matter-arranging ether form. The free cosmic ether of this more highly developed form fills the ‘gaps' between the more or less condensed material and organic structures, as well as the material human body as ether body, which corresponds exactly to the material structure and its outer borders (it is representative of the material body). It is a real body, its ether particles are interconnected. It resonates with the material body and arranges the con- and destruction of its material components.

The ether form of the body soul, the next higher level of development. It corresponds to the well-known idea of ‘astral'. The soul shape of higher living beings (which is inherent in plants already, roughly from the mosses upward), the so-called ‘astral body' is a structure that condensed from this ether form, which structure is the wishing shape of the embodied spirit, already man-resembling in the earliest stages (‘wishing' is the un- or semiconscious, dreaming will). From the birth of the earthly-physical being on, this soul shape is fully developed and possesses the shape, size and character of the adult nature.

For example, one can speak with a small child's soul shape exactly as with a grown-up person, it possesses the same feelings and thoughts. The material body, however, especially the small child's brain doesn't yet possess the means to all-comprehensibly express itself and meaningfully assimilate spoken words, images etc. through the outer senses. The soul shape is constructed by the embodying spirit itself in the conception, and for her part builds the matter-arranging ether body (from this type of cosmic ether), that determines the construction of the material body and possesses the same physical size of the moment. Through external influences and through heredity, which the still dreaming spirit didn't always recognize properly, the outer body often experiences alterations and inhibitions, contradictory to the character of the soul shape. This sets narrow limits to the determination of the soul from the outwardly visible physique, the ‘physiognomy'.

Material changes, ‘exciting situations' of all kind and all external sensory stimuli share themselves - through the ether body - with the soul shape, and vice versa. The soul shape (the astral body) corresponds to the field of the subconscious in the image of awareness. All physical changes, all external and internal sensory stimuli (that through the soul ether strike the senses of the soul shape) influence and excite the soul shape (the subconscious) and incite to the formation of feelings and thoughts here. Feelings are conditions of excitement, vibrations of the soul ether inside the soul shape, and from there they also share themselves with the nearer and more distant surroundings as vibrations of the World Soul ether, which are then - consciously or unconsciously - picked up by other beings (‘contagious' effect of feelings. Mass suggestion etc.). Depending on their character and strength, these vibrations of the soul ether, these ‘feelings' have different colors and brightness. Thoughts are feelings, condensed into transcendent body structures (the more condensed, the abstracter, more ‘insensitive', ‘colder', ‘sharper' the thoughts are. Condensing can lead to rigidity, lifelessness). It is much more difficult for the living vibrations of feelings to be kept or revived in memory than for the more or less solid or even fixed forms of thoughts. Feelings and thoughts evoke ‘structural changes' in the physical nerve cells, in the soul shape and finally also in the spiritual soul; they are consciously or unconsciously revived as vibrations or can - as linear forms - as a ‘writing' be read out (by the subconscious or by the conscious Self in the center of awareness, that can ‘illuminate' and ‘search' the whole radiating body and the material body.)

The third of the developed ether forms, the highest, could be named spiritual ether. It was a further build out of the soul ether, performed by the embodied, already highly developed spirits. It fills the field of awareness of the spirit in the human radiating body, assumes the vibrations of the spiritual soul here and penetrates as ‘reason', as the activity of the higher, no longer logically and intellectually determined knowledge, into the center of awareness and into the upper half of the circle of daily awareness. The spirit-shape of the earthly embodied or earthly working divine spirits is built from this spirit ether, which just like the other ether forms fills the whole cosmos already. All these ether forms, particularly the neighboring levels, influence each other mutually. The vibrations of the different ether bodies of living creatures share themselves with their environment and finally with the whole cosmos.

All these ether forms were developed from the original cosmic ether by the embodied spirits. They are nothing but steps of increasing levels of awareness, increasing spiritualization. Since they were developed one out of the other, the material and organic life on earth and in the cosmos decreases. New building of matter is hardly taking place any more and the luxuriance of the material and organic life (material revolutions as well as enhancing, gigantism, building of new species, etc. within organic life) has markedly decreased. In this respect, Klages seems to be right: ‘Spirit is the enemy of the life'. But one should say: The good must give way to the better, the low (organic) life to the higher and divine, ‘life' to the ‘spirit', that is eternally young, eternal Morning Light.

So much for the ether forms belonging to the embodied World Soul. The light, the vibration of the divine spiritual world is God Itself, the Infinite Love. As divine spiritual beings, we vibrate and live in God, in Its infinite sun sea.'

‘I could agree with you heartily, if you could only meet one argument. You are speaking of the infinite number of primal ether structures (primal atoms), into which the World Spirit condensed his countless abilities of his spiritual soul. According to your depiction, through the development of higher ether forms the number of these structures of primal ether and neighboring developmental forms decreases, which at the same time determines the decrease of the material and organic life that these ether forms underlie. But still the original infinity could not decrease if it were partially changed into other forms, so to speak.'

‘You are forgetting that these new, higher forms again build an infinitude, the infinite world of life, soul and spirit. An infinitude, the primal cosmic ether sea, changes ‘step-by-step' into a new infinitude, into the world of the World Spirit. Later on I will speak more in detail about this. But I want to mention something else here. The world, the cosmos as the physical condensation of a spiritual soul that like all spiritual souls belongs to the female principle of the divine spiritual world, is - from a metaphysical point of view - female . But it is under the guidance of the male principle of the divine spiritual world, it is led, conducted, but not ‘mastered' by the World Spirit's divine will, with which the will of the individual spirit embodied should join in. I will give more details about this in one of my next letters.'

‘Now I have a weighty objection again, referring to the whole. According to you, the world is the condensation of a divine spiritual soul, it is the shell, the dress of a divine will. This also corresponds to the sensing and belief of many people. But then, from where comes this relentless, with cunning and malice pursued fighting in nature, the mutual pushing aside, the strangling and suffocation, that marks the plant world already. What does in fact underlie the often seemingly pointless destruction already in purely material nature; what do elementary catastrophes mean, which with unfeeling cruelty create pain and annihilation for countless living beings? Altogether, all nature seems to be characterized by merciless egoism. Can this greedy, unkind selfishness be of divine origin?'

‘Yes. But not quite in the way you think. Between the World Spirit's purely divine sacrifice, who gave his own soul as a developmental basis, as a mother for all nascent unique personalities and for the total condition of developed nature, whose partially ugly, anti-divine traits you so clearly portrayed a moment ago, stand the spirits that embodied in him, who are of divine origin themselves and therefore infinitely free. They can turn away from God as well, and some did so. As embodied demonic beings, they carry their own anti-divine traits into all nature - that is still asleep and dreaming, spiritually still blind. Also the light beings allow themselves be infected by the demonic fear of life, camouflaged as a strong desire for life ; as still dreaming beings, they let themselves be blinded and get into fear, of which pain and sorrow are the consequences.'

‘That would convince me completely. But by that, you tear nature apart, or at least its comprehensible general appearance, into two opposites: a light and a dark direction. But nature does seem to present itself altogether as a unity - or at least we try to find this unity in it.'

‘When I myself was vaguely sensing, dreaming, I, too, believed that I should consider all nature as a unity and trace it back to one single origin. I considered the world as the World Creator's still undeveloped youth work, for which development we all, who are embodied in this world, have to wrestle and fight as ‘executors of his will to accomplish'. The divine beauty, purity and goodness of nature, its golden man's days and silvery mother's nights I put against the dark radiance of the demonic nature powers and their merciless fires of annihilation, and nevertheless considered this a temporary whole, whose accomplishment into an unbroken unity is up to us . All this is correct, from a general point of view. Nevertheless, all nature is determined by two opposite developmental trends, whose contrast becomes more and more unequivocally clear in the course of development.'

‘But why the appearance of a nature as a unity? And why do all errors, faulty developments, intemperance and destruction again and again balance themselves ?'

‘Because the World Spirit's leading divine will through his unshakable natural laws prevents a total breakdown of nature and evens out again all intemperance and destruction of demonic origin. Furthermore, because the one trend, the demonic developmental trend constantly seeks to join in with the other, the light one, in order to exploit it, to drain and rob it. Thirdly, because only in the fully-conscious human being the two developmental trends turn into completely irreconcilable, forever separated opposites. This is also the reason that the fights between these two powers in the human sphere are so drastic and destroying, like nowhere else in the nature sphere beneath him. In the human sphere, the inner weakness and dilapidation of the diabolical principle reveals itself unequivocally , though: despite all of his camouflaging and deceit attempts, the consciously evil human being is finally recognized as a criminal and is segregated from the life sphere. In the long run, in all nature the divine will always wins.'

From your words I take that in the human sphere you approve of these decisive and annihilating fights.'

‘Yes. I want the unambiguous decision, and in that I know I am one with the will of God and all divine spirits. This is also what the word of Christ means: ‘I have not come to bring the peace but the sword.' But Christ also said: ‘My kingdom is not of this world.' Thus we do want these deciding and annihilation fights, but we don't want them ‘in this world', we want them in the spiritual sphere, in the spirit's world, not on the material level - setting aside self-defense for the law and freedom of us all. We constantly must be prepared for it and ready to have to act in self-defense. For time and again the diabolical powers try to force the shifting of these spiritual fights onto the material level, since again and again they must recognize the hopelessness of their victory in the spiritual sphere.'

‘Won't exactly this divine will for a spiritual decision evoke material fights, ‘wars', then?'

‘On the contrary. Every unambiguous decision in the spiritual sphere always leads to the victory of the divine light and cancels the demonic blindness of human consciousness, which alone makes the fighting on the material level, the fratricidal wars between light beings possible. (Diabolical powers never fight themselves, but work only from a sure background as instigators and jugglers.) The diabolical powers would gladly avoid every fight on the spiritual level. However, they must get involved in such fighting, because otherwise they won't be able to win and keep any light supporters through spiritual blindness. Without many such supporters - who alone have the sacrificing courage for fighting and dying - they remain powerless and may fight their wars in their imagination.

Wars ever start when the light beings let the conviction be forced on themselves, that a decision in the spiritual sphere is impossible and the existing tensions must be solved in a war, if ‘relaxation', peace should be again. Wars start when the spiritual fronts got stuck seemingly hopelessly, that is when also in the light beings the will to reach a spiritual decision is paralyzed. Only then, the diabolical powers succeed in starting a war between light beings.' (Look at the Thirty Year War almost one hundred years after the Reformation, when mental clarification and relaxation seemed unreachable, and at the fights of our time, for which the unsolved, purely spiritual tension between materialism and the spiritual world is at the bottom.)'

‘But wars usually break out exactly because of purely material abuses, because of social injustice etc.'

‘Right so. But at the bottom of these material abuses always lies a confused state of mind, an obscurity in the spiritual sphere, a distortion of the concepts ‘human dignity', ‘rights' and ‘freedom'. Without such an obscurity or distortion in the purely spiritual sphere, there are no social abuses and no unsolvable issues of the material kind. I, Michael, want to penetrate into this confused state of mind with the sword that is held and meant by Christ as well, with the divine will to an unambiguous decision; I want to start the spiritual fight on the whole earth, on the ‘level of decision' for the whole cosmos; to that I call upon all light beings, whether for or against me, which is all the same to me, and the diabolical powers I will force to it. By that, we deprive them of the possibility to shift the fight and the solution of the long standing tensions to the material level. I, Michael, death and transformer, want my death and transformation powers as arms in the spiritual sphere, where the real decisive battles are fought. These I don't want to be changed into a pointless murdering and destroying ‘in this world', at the material level of Earth. I am calling all light beings and particularly you, dear brothers and sisters on all earth. You are the ones to decide: Do you want the spiritual fight, do you want clarification of the present confused state of mind, and do you want the unambiguous spiritual decision - or do you want war, assassination, general destruction, do you want the apocalyptic riders?

But now I want to turn back to your main objection to the former subject. The ‘brutal egoism', the relentless selfishness that seems innate to all nature, is no more than the contradictory result, the sum total of the - mutually penetrating, but not yet unequivocally separated - primal opposites of the light way towards God and the dark way against God. On nature below the human soul sphere, on the so-called ‘life laws' that seemingly govern all nature (e.g. the ‘law of the jungle'), which in reality are no solid laws but variable, either lighter or more demonic total directions of life - on this deceptive, inwardly split ground we may not build our moral-spiritual attitude, we may not conform our conscience to it, if we want to be human beings.'

‘I would like to have this motivated more in detail'

‘According to God's will for infinite freedom of all of Its children, also the divine spirit that created the world, the World Spirit, offers to all spirits the possibility to reach the goal of their will, that is, to those as well, whose initial decision leads them on the black, demonical way, the way of a growing devil. After all, they too can only reach the goal of their will through their embodiment. But only the human being decides fully aware, unequivocally, finally on the goal of his will, in himself he separates the two primal opposites, he has to decide on the ‘either … or'. For at his level of awareness, where the reflection of the divine will, the ‘wishing', ‘longing' or ‘desiring', is transformed into in the conscious divine will, and where the demonic elements of the lower levels of life sinks into the consciously, unequivocally diabolical sphere, there is no co-existence of divine light and diabolical darkness any more. The processes in the human image of awareness show, that at this level of development the divine will must get through with his unambiguous decision. Otherwise he gives up himself and the human being degenerates into diabolical dilapidation, exactly as if he would have decided consciously and unequivocally against the divine. (In the natural human being, this decision prepares its way. But in the long run he cannot avoid it any more either.)'

‘Therefore, nature below the human being, in matter, plants and animals, is shaped by light and dark powers; they influence each other mutually because they do not have full clarity yet about their final goal of their will. (Especially the spirits of the black way could still turn to the light way, while the spirits of the light way, in accordance with their divine will - which has not been weakened by any faulty initial decision - often most unequivocally strive toward their divine goal. Nevertheless, as sleeping and dreaming beings, they still are subject to aberrations into the dark way.) So, here the influences still cross one another. Because of the dusky awareness, a clear separation between divine and diabolical is not yet possible. Did I understand you correctly?'

‘Completely. So in a moral, spiritual and divine sense, nature below the human being is unclear, contradictory, not yet divine and not yet diabolical, therefore undecided, noncommittal and in that sense innocent, not yet to be ‘taken seriously'. If on this we base our human attitude, our conscience (the unambiguous voice of our divine will, which animals cannot hear in this clarity yet), with the excuse that ‘nature' does the same, then we are not humans, then we then belong the sphere of nature below the human being , we are inferior humans. Since in the human being - because of his light awareness - everything is ‘by nature' enhanced up to the unambiguous, the extreme, everyone who reads the guidelines his of feeling, thinking and acting from the natural sphere below his level of development, inevitably turns into an extremely relentless and cruel beast. If the human being wants to correspond to the World Spirit's will and thereby to his own divine will as well (they are one in God indeed), then his natural attitude is not: ‘back to nature' but ‘onward to the spirit'. Only then he will correspond to his developmental level and therefore lives natural.'

‘On this we quite agree. The still unclear dividing line between light and demonic powers thus becomes unequivocally clear in the human being; this must be so, since the human being finally became competent for the decision. If in the long run he avoids this decision, then he betrays ‘himself', namely his divine will. But where does this mixture of light and dark powers start, where is the boundary between the embodied World Spirit's soul, unequivocally divine, and developed ‘nature', contradictory and torn in itself?'

‘The embodied divine World Soul only belongs to the primal ether sea together with the more highly developed ether forms, which build the infinite world of life, soul and spirit. The primal ether sea is the infinite cosmic space, in which material structures can come into being. All we can imagine as ‘space' at all belongs to this ether world.'

‘And what is outside this ether space?'

‘There is nothing ‘outside'. For this ether space is infinite, an image of the infinity of every spirit. Only because we cannot imagine infinity with our earthly mind (we should in fact be able to restrict it in order to encircle it with our mind , we should be able to make it palpable in order to grasp it), the absurd question can arise anyway: what is outside cosmic space, outside infinity? Since establishing, encircling, grasping of an infinity is impossible for our earth-restricted mind (it relies on our earthly-restricted, external sensory experiences; the developing mind in a small child needs the actual touching, enclosing, grasping of the material objects for its development), it is not possible either to intellectually establish, define and explain the concepts of ‘area' and ‘time' that we experience with our reason. These indeed are no more than ‘excerpts' from an incomprehensible infinity of expansion and duration.

As I said a moment ago, only the free ether sea in its different developmental forms belongs unequivocally to the light world, to the divine World Spirit's soul. The embodying light or dark spirits build from the primal ether structures atoms, elements, chemical connections - ‘matter' - which already in their simplest forms serve them as organs for experiencing the world, as a ‘body'. In accordance with the building spirit's will for uniqueness, already the simplest matter is unique; it doesn't accept indiscriminately the influences of all other embodied spirits, it knows ‘enmity' and ‘friendship' already. According to the building and inhabiting spirit's will for an own, unique character, it won't without resistance have itself robbed from its character and form or penetrated (not even by ether vibrations - ‘light', for example); it ‘reacts', answers to environmental influences according to its character, it already shows the choosing and arranging will it possesses, through which it experiences the world, and in the fight for its incipient own character develops its spiritual soul to uniqueness. Chemical and physical conversions (alterations of the fine and coarse structure) are the means by which the embodied spirit experiences the world . Matter preserves its own character for a long time, even when it is not ‘inhabited' any more (these days, matter has for a good deal become ‘spirit' and ‘God' forlorn already. This is why ‘materialism' is an overestimation, adoration of matter and its ‘laws', a worshipping of corpses. )

Matter alone already shows whether it was built by a light or a dark spirit, depending on its readiness for ‘construction' or its readiness for ‘destruction', its general enmity to life, particularly towards the higher life forms: plants, animals, and people. (Mineral poisons, for example arsenic trioxide, frequently show their demonic origin by being harmlessly camouflaged, deceptively similar to the construction-ready materials. The demonic spirit in them experiences his lust in destroying and tormenting higher life forms; he exercises himself for his future more conscious intentions. But not yet all demonic life forms up till man are unequivocally diabolical. They still can change into harmless or even construction-willing materials and life forms, at least become ‘tamed'; and what's more: they may be used as a repellent, as a weapon against other demonic life forms and against demonic behavior (vital urge, ‘proliferation ‘, unrestrained multiplication, even of light beings), either originating from its own character or imposed.

General life urge, the inclination to unrestrained multiplication, to proliferation (the noblest, lightest life forms hardly show this trait) the consequence of fear of life (the fear of being destroyed, crushed to death) that - in matter already - the demonic, live-adverse spirits by their activities impose on all sleeping and dreaming life forms, no matter if these be of the light or the dark way. Already matter shows this fear of life and life urge in the most different forms of destructive outbreaks and urge for unrestrained expansion (flooding by water, fire, lava, inner destructions of the earth, etc.). So ‘nature' has been falsified, ‘spoiled' and pushed into blindness, fear and sorrow, owing to the influx of nascent demons . (The ‘Fall of Adam' is no more than a simple, striking parable for the turning away from God, as just like Lucifer many spirits did in their initial decision. But only after that, they embodied .)

Life-adverse solidification, which pointlessly opposes the passing into higher life forms and ‘selfishly' excludes itself from the cycle of life without preserving any own values, is a form of fear of life, fear of destruction as well. Being a ‘contortion', it goes beyond the general, justifiable will for protection of the own character or for preservation of especially sophisticated, rarely attained forms (e.g. mountain crystal, gems).

As long as the consolidation of matter and material bodies doesn't turn into solidification, it is a precaution of the building spirit against the demonic, life-destroying powers. Without this consolidation, there would be no need for decomposion either. Then the voluntarily abandoned bodies that have become superfluous and pointless would dissolve into their primal constituents, into simple matter or ether all by themselves , as soon as the building and preserving spirit - that is: ‘life' - has left them.

Spirits, who through their developmental course in matter already gained a higher character and a brighter level of awareness, embody as plants. In the plants, they already begin to transform the matter-arranging ether, which in the matter they developed from the primal ether, into soul ether and to condense a body of a higher order from it: the soul shape that already is anthropoid and thus shows the goal of the world's development . Here lie the beginnings of earthly soul life, i.e. the ‘sensitivity' that already makes the plant answer to environmental influences in an obviously self-willed and selecting way.

The life phenomena of many plant types do not at all show this ‘innocence of genesis' unadulterated, free from demonic traits any more, it's true, but they still show it the most of all higher life forms. For the construction of their bodies, they predominantly use simple matter, without destroying its own character, its ‘life'. But even here the dark spirits have developed forms, (pathogens and parasites of all kind) that already show very clearly the diabolical principle of sponging, tormenting and disintegrating, and serve them as criminal schools for developing their later way of life as human and diabolical parasites . (In the animal kingdom, the ultimate goal of these forms becomes even clearer.)

Plants would possess in themselves all possibilities of the highest development like man achieves it (as can be seen from their already anthropoid soul shape). It is not true that the animal would be the first to be capable of ‘spiritualization', of formation of higher organs of awareness, as Rudolf Steiner and his successors claim. Plants do not just live ‘outwardly'. That plants are capable of the same closed, ‘spiritualized' formations as animals can be seen from fruit buds, fruits and seeds, and very clearly from walnuts that resemble skulls and brains.

There are no fundamental, insurmountable differences between the life forms from the simplest up to the highest (the ‘unity of life'. This has nothing to do with the primal opposite between the light and the dark way, which after all exists through all life forms). All life forms: matter, plant, animal and human being are only steps of increasing peculiarity and brightness of awareness.

The more highly developed spirits do not embody as animals because plants would only be capable of development up to a certain level. But their higher inner life demands more highly developed body cells and organs of awareness as means and tools for expression and reception (sensory organs). As said, this would be possible in plants as well. But from a certain developmental level they choose the animal form, because the freely moving animal, free from bonds to one location, is in a better position to protect its higher developed, hard replaceable organs from approaching, superior enemies than the stationary plants. Only for that reason, the plant develops no precious nerve centers, no organs of a higher, more conscious inner life.

In order to be able to escape fast, the animal (in its higher developed forms) had to free itself from the ground, from its ‘natural' food sources; it also had to abstain from the extensive equipment of plants that is necessary for the own nutrition (foliage), which would hinder its escapement. From here on, it is dependent on foreign nutrition. (In the lower, still plant-alike animal forms, the spirits only educate themselves for the new necessities of animal life, foreign nutrition and freedom from location.)

Foreign nutrition, which is still inherent to us as well, entails the tragic necessity of destroying the life of our ‘brothers and sisters on the way' (be it animals or plants) in order to be able to live ourselves.'

‘Don't you think that a higher inner life also demands more highly developed nutriments, that therefore foreign nutrition is necessary?'

‘In that case, herbivorous animals, for example horses, must have a lower inner life than carnivorous, that live on ‘more highly developed' nutriments. Also in humans, the vegetarian, the plant eater, would think and feel more dimly than the meat eater. This is certainly not the case, though, rather the opposite. Everyone must decide for himself which to give preference to, in accordance with his character and developmental level. Of course, each sensitive human being will feel an abhorrence of eating the meat of spiritually sophisticated animal species (for example horses, dogs, songbirds) or even use the meat of humans for his nutrition, because these are highly developed and therefore scarcely replaceable bodies. This unconscious insight underlies the ‘instinctive' abhorrence of it. He will also refuse to pointlessly damage or destroy the noblest, highest developed forms of the vegetable kingdom, the blooms and trees.

‘To this nutritional question I would like to add something. Whether we restrict ourselves to vegetable nutrition or ‘lay our greedy hands' on animals as well, is unimportant for nature as a whole, as long as through animal and game care we make life possible for more animals than when we would only live on the profit of our gardens and fields. In that case we could tolerate only very few animals as our ‘fellow eaters'. But as the necessity of foreign nutrition is definitely regrettable because of the death of other creatures and the unpleasant side-effects of digestion and metabolism, the animal and human body might be a faulty development at all? After all, you are saying that also plants would be capable of the same formations.'

‘Nevertheless, the animal and human body is not a faulty development. It is a necessary adaptation to the activities of demonic, life-destructive beings, in order to escape their grip better than the stationary plant.'

‘Don't you think that the change of location is also necessary for better grasping of the environment and thus for the mental development?'

‘Even in our further development as stationary beings, we would have created outer and inner sensory organs in ourselves that would have made possible for us the grasping of, the living contact and the exchange of powers with our environment unto the farthest depths of cosmic space, just like a spiritually awakened person can. For that, a change of location is totally unnecessary. After all, our science and technology also follow the same developmental way. They widen our awareness and the exchange of feelings and thoughts at distances that no location-independant being could overcome that easily and fast. They will also overcome the most unpleasant consequences of foreign nutrition for all, if they succeed in producing our nutriments - exactly like the plants - directly from the inanimate, but not lifeless matter. Such food could possess all qualities of vegetable and animal food; it would neither need to be tasteless or monotonous nor unnatural or damaging. Even inanimate matter is ‘nature', and plants work as chemists exactly like animals and humans. However, another possibility has moved within reach of all awakened persons: the ‘foodlessness', that is: the absorbing of strength directly from the ether sea, which until now was only possible as a grace for very few people. Also, full freedom of all material bonds and restrictions (in which the material body will still remain an instrument for earthly activities) is only a question of time. I cannot say any more about this yet.'

‘Then I won't ask either. But I would like to round off your representation with a few remarks. If we one day won't be dependent on killing our ‘brothers and sisters on the way' any more in order to live ourselves, we can make Earth to a garden . Then we are free from the necessity to favor what is useful to us, and we can make life possible for every possible kind of developmental form, plant and animal. Since we may not wipe out the demonic developmental forms (as you explained, they also have their right to development, after all), we would repress them as far as they obviously harm. Of course, we would corner the worst parasites and bloodsuckers relentlessly. After all, they already are an almost unequivocally diabolical degeneracy of ‘real' living beings. The earth as a garden. With that, we would give the World Spirit our most beautiful thanks.'

‘I completely agree with you and, as always, I am very pleased with your ‘rounding off'. We will give our thanks to the World Spirit in this manner as well. However, we do it for a long time in an even deeper and meaning-heavier manner.

Since present-day nature as a whole was developed by countless self-willed spirits, both light and dark, it is very confusing and at first hard to look through the diversity of their forms and manifestations of life. The World Spirit's leading will secured and secures the unity of nature in general. In the human beings of the light way, now a new ordering power has come up as the executor of the World Spirit's will for accomplishing. This is necessary. For the diabolical powers have meanwhile grown to unambiguous dilapidation and endanger with their pestilential vapor all still dreaming light beings on our earth and thereby all nature. What we until now have semiconsciously set against it - our will for divine accomplishing of the cosmos - we will now do in full clarity.

Through the World Spirit's help, we could develop our souls to uniqueness. As helpless, sleeping and dreaming, nascent beings, as children, we were enclosed by his maternal, cosmos-grown spiritual soul and she gave us hold and security. His eldest children now have grown up. They are leaving the protective lap of the World Soul, the dreamland of their youth, and they awaken. But the World Spirit himself is still dreaming , just like countless other nascent beings (his ‘head' has awakened already, but his ‘limbs' still dream). Now we fulfill his dreaming will and accomplish his soul to uniqueness. We do this in accordance with his will, by ‘hearing' from nature what she wants, or better: what the World Spirit wants, for she mirrors his dreaming will.

This is the double sense of all labor. We develop our own soul with the help of nature, through building and searching, through modeling nature as farmers, gardeners, artists, scientists and in many other occupations, as far as these don't serve mutual human help, therefore also work on nature indirectly . By that, we also aid nature to get her shape, we give to the World Spirit his unique personality. We extract from nature what was rudimentarily intended in her by the World Spirit's will, through ‘pure science' we make ourselves aware of his will and fulfill it through modeling of nature and technology, the creations of which summarize and realize in the human being all individual goals of the elementary beings, of the inhabitants of water, earth and air, and all just indicated goals of will, all still undeveloped abilities of nature herself. If we recognize and value the divine dignity and freedom of all spirits embodied in nature and of the World Spirit, if we pierce through the obscurity and confused state of mind that prevails here, if we segregate the diabolical powers from the world's management, then science and technology will be a blessing to us and the fulfillment of the divine World Spirit's will and thereby the fulfillment of God's will as well.

Onward to the spirit! Through the development of our souls onto a spiritual personality, we also develop the World Soul; through our dawn, one day the World Spirit will awaken as well . When all will have reached their goal of will - their uniqueness - who wanted to reach it, then the World Spirit's materialized soul as a mother's womb, as a developmental basis will no longer be necessary. Then nature, the World Soul, will experience her liberation as well.

Seven years ago, I wrote something like this. The World Spirit speaks to the human beings:

They hunted us, tearing heart and brain,

yet my soft murmuring penetrates their shrilly shrieks:

like I myself emerged from the great unknowing,

I carry you upward, since you are a spark

like my Self, bound to weight.

Mine will flare up to a noble light,

until one divine storm shatters

all mountains, all seas, to spirit.

The demonic powers hound, frighten and torment all still dreaming beings and nature herself, who ascend from the Great Unknowing, from their still undeveloped spiritual soul, from ‘chaos' to be a unique spiritual personality. Nature carries us, and the awakened spirits carry nature onto divine perfection. (‘Unspeakable suns carry you, from the nightly - unaware - primeval days, into the unchanging light'.)

The one and only divine storm that shatters all mountains and seas to spirit, is the general awakening of the embodied light beings to be a spiritual personality, the transformation of the bodily world into the spiritual world, the ‘Götterdämmerung', the end of time, the Last Judgment, the expulsion of the degenerate spiritual souls of the devils, dependant on the life of dreaming beings, into the hell of their gaping emptiness, their spiritual meaninglessness. In the spiritual world they live and are no more. The Eternal Suns of the divine world, the angels, the World Spirit and the divine spirits that ripened with him to uniqueness, and God, the Infinite Love - these are the only ones to live.
